Supporting People with Mental Illness

This is a short nationally accredited course, beneficial for anyone wishing to understand how to better support those who may be experiencing mental illness. This course meets the requirements of CHCMHS001 – Work with people with mental health issues. 




Course Overview

This nine hour course is suitable for anyone 18 years and over, to learn how to recognise signs of deteriorating mental health, how to communicate and support the person at risk. This nationally accredited course is a unit of competency within the Community Services, Defence, Health, Sports Fitness and Recreation, Correctional Services and Creative Arts and Culture Training Packages.

The next face-to-face delivery of this course is over two consecutive half days: Friday Oct 21, 2022 12 noon – 430pm and Sat Oct 22, 2022 9am – 1:30pm

At present the course is delivered via Zoom over three weekly sessions with flexible directed self study hours

As this course is nationally recognised training, a Unique Student Identifier (USI) is required. This involves an easy online application. See USI Fact Sheet for information on how to apply for a USI go to the Unique Student Identifier (USI) Website for additional information.

Competency based assessment is a requirement of  the course and will be conducted through a mix of assessment methods which includes role plays, short answer questions and case studies.

You will receive clear assessment instructions and an opportunity will be provided for resubmission of assessments if required.

$239 and includes a course manual. Funding may be available for eligible participants.
